Good Friday Remembrance

March 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Crown of thorns, candle, and nails

Join our remembrance of the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus on our behalf. We will share Scripture readings and hymns to reflect on the great cost of our salvation and our Lord’s victory on the cross.

Our opening Scripture reading comes from Psalm 100, which says, “Serve Yahweh with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.”

We will read Genesis 2 and 3 about Adam’s rebellion against the Lord’s command thus bringing sin and death into the world.

We will read Romans 5:18–21, where Paul says, “So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.”

We will read Ephesians 2:1–10, where Paul says, “But God, being rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ.”

We will read Mark 15:16–39, where Mark records of our Lord Jesus, “And they crucified Him.”

We will read Revelation 5:11–14, where it is said of our Lord Jesus, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”

Our congregational songs will include the following:

  • All People That on Earth Do Dwell (HG #18)
  • And Can It Be? (HG #180)
  • When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (HG #274)
  • The Power of the Cross (HG #272)
  • Who Is He in Yonder Stall? (HG #256)
